I consider myself a self-taught artist. I was born in England, in Norfolk, shortly after the Second World War and although drawn to art, pursued a career in engineering. My love of art never left me, however, and I returned to it over the years and gradually developed my oil painting skills. I am particularly interested in people and the challenge of capturing personality in portraits. I have completed a wide range of portrait commissions and this remains my main interest. I moved to the United States in 1987 where I have since lived in eastern Pennsylvania. My work has won numerous awards locally and has been featured in "The Art of the Portrait," the magazine for the Portrait Society of America, of which I am a member. Recently I have discovered pastel painting, under the guidance of Jeff Arbogast. It is a medium that allows me to create works quickly with great vibrancy and it has helped me experiment with color. Please explore my site. I welcome your comments. |
